A man in Michigan may have a world's record on his hands-- for growing a sunflower plant with 856 heads! (The head is the brown, seed-filled center). This particular sunflower is so huge that it requires three wooden braces to support it. The man who grew this sunflower claims that the first plant just came up on its own, and he counted 202 heads at its largest, but didn't think anything of it. Then during the following year, some plants reached 11 feet and had more than 300 heads. He thought this to be rather peculiar, but had no idea that this could set a world's record. The previous world's record was set in February of this year, when a 129-headed plant owned by another family in Michi- gan was accepted into the 2002 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.
